Originally from Brazil and happily settled in the UK, I am a piano tutor with a Master Degree in Musicology and an Undergraduate Degree in Music - classical piano. My biggest passion during my years at Uni in Sao Paulo was to play contemporary music with percussion ensembles. Later on I went to live in a town in the Brazilian Amazon to teach piano and ethnomusicology to undergraduate students at two public universities. That experience brought me close to local indigenous communities, which led me to study anthropology with focus in indigenous music. During my three years living in Amazon, I was invited to take part in judging panels in several cultural festivals around the state and also to be the artistic director of the First Piano Competition Maria Isabel Desterro e Silva (Manaus/Brazil, 2008). I started my musical journey in London in 2013. I currently teach music for under 5’s at nurseries and classical piano privately and at primary schools in the Borough of Merton through its music hub - Merton Music Foundation. I take proud in preparing my pupils for ABRSM exams and for music festivals and piano competitions. It is very rewarding to see their happy faces when they hold their certificates, after months of hard work!
That is me on a road trip to pay a visit to the Note family in Pianoville. Long drive, and so worth it!
